My son has tunnel vision when it comes to water or anything pertaining to the outdoors. He is a nature lover like his mother.
I took him to the beach for the first time, not too long ago, and he absolutely loved it!
Not only did he lie in the water for two hours straight, he got enough sand in his ear to develop an ear infection. YAY!
As you read the sarcasm in my voice, I just want you all to know that I am glad that he enjoyed himself (his sister too.) Everyone had a great time.
The one thing that I feared with him being at the beach was a tantrum or a meltdown. Considering he was in his “happy place”, I knew one of the two was bound to happen sooner rather than later. To my surprise, the entire time we were there he was calm and extremely happy!
I focused this post on him because crowds make him anxious. Because of this, meltdowns are soon to follow when there are too many people, bright lights, and too much noise.
A full fledged tantrum erupted when it was time to leave though, but that was expected for a four-year-old to not want to leave when they are having fun.
For the first time EVER, he did not have a meltdown in public.
When he is meltdown free, his sister is meltdown free. She often imitates certain behaviors she sees her older brother doing.
This was a good day and I look forward to more days like this.
